Work / The Ivors 2024

The Brief

The Ivors is recognised as the pinnacle of achievement for songwriters and composers, and the 2024 edition was one of the biggest in the awards’ rich history. Bruce Springsteen became the first international songwriter to be inducted into the Academy’s Fellowship, an honour presented to him by Sir Paul McCartney, while other luminaries recognised included Lana Del Rey, Skepta, and RAYE.

Since our appointment as the global PR agency for The Ivors, the key objectives have been to deliver increased engagement with music and culture specialist publications, raise the profile of The Ivors within the UK and US, and reassert the awards’ status as a cornerstone of the musical calendar.

What We Did

LD introduced several innovations such as holding a nominee launch event, an opportunity for key press to connect with The Ivors ahead of the ceremony and interview the nominees. Additionally, we worked alongside the awards team to create and distribute a filmed package of show highlights to media for the first time in the awards’ history – amplifying the post-event broadcast coverage.

Bruce Springsteen’s induction as a Fellow was the watershed moment for the 2024 campaign. In total, this story achieved over 1500 pieces of coverage. The powerful shot of the pair holding the Ivor Novello statuette was broadcast on TV channels from BBC to CNN, printed in newspapers such as The Guardian, The Telegraph and The Times, and shared virally on social media, immortalising The Ivors in musical history.

Utilising this and other key media opportunities such as the red carpet and winners room interviews ensured global attention on The Ivors, supporting its ongoing mission to champion and celebrate the craft of songwriting.

For the second consecutive year, we collaborated with LD to celebrate songwriters and screen composers through a highly effective media campaign for The Ivors with Amazon Music. Each Ivor Novello Award symbolises peer recognition for outstanding achievements in music composition. This year's PR campaign successfully highlighted the value and significance of songwriters and composers, reaching our largest and most global audience to date, and reinforcing the prestigious status of the awards. Thank you, Nathan, Henry, and the entire LD team for helping to enable our mission.
